Ingredients

  • 12 pcs dinner rolls you can get in a bakery or the supermarket
  • Half a pound of ground pork
  • Half an onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • salt and pepper
  • half a cup of apple cider
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1 half of a small cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and cut into small batons
  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 large Tomatoe, sliced

Instructions

Coleslaw

  1.  Mix mayonnaise and lemon juice in a small bowl until it reaches a runny consistency.
  2.  Mix together shredded lettuce and carrot batons or sticks and then combine with the mayo-lemon mixture to create the coleslaw.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Put it in the fridge while you work on the patties.

Pork Patties

  1. Take a handful of ground pork and form it into 1 inch thick patties that are roughly the same width of one dinner roll.
  2. Pre-heat a non-stick pan with oil.
  3. Season your patties with salt and pepper on both sides before placing them around the pan in a clock-wise direction.
  4. Let it cook 2-3 minutes on each side.

BBQ Sauce

  1.  In a medium sauce pan, add a little bit of oil and then cook your sliced onions on medium until they become translucent.
  2. Add a tablespoon or two of brown sugar to get it to caramelize.
  3. Deglaze the pan with apple cider vinegar. Do this step slowly as the acid will react quickly with the heat and it can get quite unpleasant.
  4. Add your ketchup and Worcestershire sauce and honey and stir until its thick enough to cover the back of a spoon.

Assembly

  1.  Slice your dinner rolls in half and toast them in butter.
  2.  When ready, Assemble in the following order:
    • Top bun
    • Bbq sauce
    • Pattie
    • Coleslaw
    • Tomato slice
    • Bottom Bun
